How self-awareness strengthens collective activism
On the inner journey of awareness, as you become increasingly mindful of your thoughts and emotions, you’ll come to realize just how significantly our human consciousness is shaped by the stories that play out in our minds. This understanding leads to the realization that if someone were able to control these mental narratives, they could wield immense influence over others.
For those who have not had a chance to do a lot of inner work, it’s easy to assume that everyone sees reality as it truly is and forms their beliefs based on this perception. However, as your self-awareness grows, you’ll find that none of us, including yourself, see reality as it truly is. Instead, we perceive the world through our own unique lenses, shaped by our personal experiences, biases, and thought patterns. This suggests that no one experiences objective reality, but rather our own highly individualized perceptions of it.
Inner work is a process that involves a thorough and honest examination of all the thoughts, emotions, and experiences occurring within you. The goal is to identify and address any elements that are rooted in falsehood or delusion. Meditation, self-enquiry, healing work, energy work, and entheogens can all play a role, but mostly it’s just methodically removing the bullshit and fostering a greater sense of clarity and self-awareness.
As you examine your own thought processes, it becomes clear that humans are far from the rational beings we often believe ourselves to be. We aren’t logical creatures making well-reasoned decisions based on an accurate understanding of the world around us. Instead, we’re complex beings influenced by a myriad of factors, many of which we’re not even aware of.
With this understanding, it’s easy to see how someone could manipulate others for their own gain. By influencing the stories that shape our thoughts and beliefs, they can control how we think, act, and make decisions.
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.
Bob Marley
This is precisely what happens in the world today. Some individuals, who may be more cunning and less empathetic than others, recognize that they can use psychological manipulation to control the narratives that shape people’s thoughts and actions. The most powerful people in the world understand that true power lies not in wealth, votes, or military might, but in controlling these narratives.
By dominating the stories that shape our thoughts and beliefs, these individuals can control where votes are cast, where money is spent, and where troops and weapons are deployed. Since humans are so heavily influenced by stories, controlling these narratives allows them to control people.
To maintain this control, these manipulators work tirelessly to control every aspect of the narratives we consume. They buy up media outlets, manipulate the news, fund biased think tanks, and even imprison journalists who threaten their control. Their goal is to shape how we think, speak, work, act, and vote in our daily lives.
The more you learn about your own thought processes, the more you begin to understand why people are so easily influenced by these manipulations and why the world is in its current state. You’ll also realize that those in power are just as confused and lost as the rest of us, driven by their own narratives and subconscious forces they don’t fully comprehend.
These powerful individuals may be controlling the world, but they’re also leading us towards potential disaster through war, disease and environmental collapse. The more you work on yourself and expand your awareness, the more you’ll see that this doesn’t have to be the case. Humans have the potential to become a more conscious species, no longer ruled by mental narratives.
By bringing our subconscious thoughts and emotions into the light, we can heal and integrate them. We can learn to see thought as a tool to be used when needed, rather than allowing it to control our lives. We can also recognize that our ego-driven experiences are based on an illusion that can be overcome.
What’s truly remarkable is that ordinary people who have done the inner work can see this potential, while those in power, who are wrapped up in their own egos and narratives, remain blind to it. There’s a quiet revolution happening within our species, one that threatens the very foundations of their control.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.
Bob Marley
If humanity can break free from the grip of these narratives, the manipulative tactics used by those in power will lose their effectiveness. We will no longer be controlled by the stories that shape our thoughts and actions, and the framework that has allowed this manipulation will cease to exist.
While it’s uncertain if our species will awaken from this trance in time to make the necessary changes, there’s no doubt that we have the potential within us to do so. Through continued inner work, anyone can recognize this potential and play a part in creating a brighter future for us all.
