Kia Ora.
Earth Beat Festival has a delicious arts offering to satisfy the senses: there is a live artist gallery with art auction, vibrant art installations, interactive performances, and an immersive Arts Village with creative playshops and schedule of activities to nourish your inner child.
We invite artists from around Aotearoa to get creative and apply to join the 2023 Arts Programme.
2023 applications will be processed in two rounds. The first round will be notified by 30th November 2022 and the second round will be notified by 28th of February 2023. To be considered for both rounds you will need to get your application in by the 31st of October 2022. Applications will close on the 14th of February 2023.
This year we are offering a mixture of placements, some are funded and some are for ticket exchange. The earlier you apply or get in contact with us, the higher your chances are for a funded placement.
If you would like to discuss your application before submission, please contact the Arts Director on aston@earthbeatfestival.com.
As this area of the festival is growing rapidly, we are no longer working on one arts application form. Please select the form relevant to you below.

We welcome performance artists of all kinds to apply. Whether you are a circus act, large cultural performance group, dancer, comedian, poet or roving artist… what ever the act – we’d love to hear from you. Please note – we do accept music groups to apply here, however this form is for acts in the Arts Programme, rather than the Music Programme. Large groups that don’t fit on stage or prefer performance on the grounds amongst people should apply here.

We are looking to fill our grounds with delicious, illusive and interactive art installations. We will accept existing installations that have been used for other festivals, however new, innovative and creative installations will have a higher chance of selection. This year we are looking for installations using natural materials that align with our sustainability kaupapa. We are also looking for UV and LED installations to illuminate our grounds at night. We will consider all installations, please do not be concerned if yours does not meet either of those criteria.

Earth Beat features a live arts gallery that includes a silent auction curated by 3 Lefts. There are limited spaces and we are looking for a cross section of artists using a range of mediums. Each year we receive a lot of applications for live artists, so it is strongly encouraged that live artists apply early for consideration.

The heArts Village at Earth Beat 2023 will provide a space with grace for us to gather and share many new ways of being. Demonstrating many different art forms in an inclusive and nurturing environment, we will focus on a journey into sustainable community development through the use of recycling and repurposing in our crafts. The heArts Village includes workshops and immersive activities situated amongst the campground, and we welcome creative facilitators interested in offering interactive arts-based activities and workshops to apply. We are looking to compile a broad, holistic program of activities that enables people of all ages to nourish their inner child and enjoy creative expression and play.

Visual Projection Artists or anyone who uses light as a work of art are encouraged to apply to help us put together a sensual experience at Earth Beat 2023. This can be for stages or around the festival grounds. Please note, this is not the space for recruiting a lighting team, but if you are someone passionate about lighting our environment creatively, we’d love to hear from you.

Fire and Flow dancing is always a popular part of our Arts Programme. We have a fire circle every night, and run fire and flow workshops by day. Each year we receive a large number of applications for this section of the festival, more than we can accept, so we strongly encourage fire, flow and LED performers to get their applications in early.

Does your act not fit any of the above categories, or perhaps you can’t choose which because you’re a mixture of a few? Then we would definitely love to hear from you! We particularly love innovation and creation so if you have something that is really out there, beyond our wildest imaginations, you’ll likely have a high chance of success with your application.
